Joseph with Musician Angels

This is one of the remaining fragments of the altarpiece from the St John’s cathedral in ’s-Hertogenbosch, which was commissioned by the Confraternity of Our Lady in 1475 to replace an earlier one that had been destroyed by fire. This Altar of the Virgin was dismembered in the 17th century and only 13 fragments survived.
