BERGLER, Joseph the Elder
(b. 1718 Windisch-Matrei, d. 1788 Passau)
Austrian sculptor. He created figures in the Calvary Chapel on the Kapuzinerberg (Capuchin Mountain) in Salzburg. He worked also in the Old Bishop’s Residence in Passau.
Bergler was the teacher of his son, Joseph Bergler the Younger (1753-1829), a painter, author of numerous etchings, and director of the Prague Academy.
