CARLONE, Carlo Antonio

(b. 1635 Scaria, d. 1708 Passau)

Italian architect, part of a family of artists, son of Peter Franz Carlone, architect and master builder (1606-1680). He belonged to the branch of the family which was active in Austria.

Carlo Antonio planned (from 1686) the great Abbey of St Florian and the exquisite Pilgrimage Chapel at Christkindl (begun 1706), Upper Austria, both completed by his pupil Jakob Prandtauer.
