The Hôtel de Ville in Paris

An album of pen-and-ink drawings, made by Jacques Cellier in the 1580s, accurately records the appearance of some Parisian buildings during the Renaissance. This drawing shows the Htel de Ville, designed by Domenico da Cortona, in incomplete form: aside from the Pavillon Saint-Jean to the right, the upper portions remain unbuilt.
