The Baroque palazzo was built between 1650 and 1690. Between 1650 and 1671, Alfonso Parigi the Younger and Ferdinando Tacca, the architects, worked on the building., raising the prospect on the Via del Parione. In 1680 Pier Francesco Silvani carried out the plan for all the land along the Arno. This project was completed by Antonio Maria Ferri in 1695.

The nine rooms on the ground floor were decorated with frescoes, stucco relief work, bust and statues, while the ‘piano nobile’ would be a triumph of spacious halls which included the Loggetta, the Sala del Trono (Throne Room), and the Ballroom.
