Byron in Arnaout Dress

In this portrait, shown at the Royal Academy in 1814, the poet appears as one of the century’s first honorary Orientals, wearing an outfit of the Albanian Arnaout tribe that he had bought in Epirus in 1809.

The painting is a copy by the artist from his painting of 1813.
