Procession of the Maids in the Place du Grand Sablon in Brussels

The occasion of the arrival of a statue of the Virgin in 1348 from Antwerp by boat is still celebrated annually in July in Brussels. It is a grand procession called the Ommegang (literally “walkabout”) from Grand Sablon to the Grand-Place.
