SCIORINA, Lorenzo dello

(b. ~1540 ?, d. ~1580 Firenze)

Italian painter. He studied under Bronzino, and afterwards assisted Vasari in some of his works in Florence. It is said that honourable mention is made of him among the academicians of Florence.

Hercules Killing the Dragon in the Garden of the Hesperides

This scene is on a painted door pilaster of a cabinet in the studiolo of Francesco I de’ Medici in the Palazzo Vecchio.
