In the design of this church an attempt was made to graft the construction of a dome onto an axial plan in order to achieve greater spatial integration. The plan designed by Jan Cortvriendt is based on a hexagon, lengthened towards the entrance with two bays whose dimensions correspond with those of the sides of the hexagon. On the other side of the building the hexagon opens on three sides into a semi-circular choir and two flanking apses.
